Optimize your Instagram Profile

Today, more than ever, it's crucial to have a strong online presence. Whether you're looking to make new connections or show off your work and skills, social media is the way to go.

Instagram is one of the most popular social networking sites on the web. With over 1.074 billion active users in 2021, this platform allows you to connect with others by sharing photos and videos. It also offers a number of features that can enhance your experience with the app and help build your brand. From live sessions, collaborations, Reels, and many more, Instagram is upgrading its interface and features by the day to keep up with the competition within all social media platforms.

A little goes a long way in the world of Instagram. With so many brands and digital marketers trying to achieve a cohesive, engaging profile, it can be difficult to stand out from the crowd.

A well-optimized profile is an excellent way to boost exposure for your business by creating a professional and attractive space where you can engage with new potential customers.

Instagram bios are a chance for you to show off your personal brand whether you were a Digital Marketer or a Business. They’re a place where you can include one or two lines about yourself, and a call to action to follow you. With that in mind, here are a few tips to optimize your Instagram bio so it will help grow your Instagram following!

And for that we are going to divide the Bio into Sections:

  •  The Name Section

  • First Line in Bio: The Awareness Section

  • Second Line in Bio: The Interest Section

  • Third Line in Bio: The Desire Section

  • The Link in Bio: The Link Section

Before we develop each and every section, get your facts straight

  • Your Instagram name can only be changed every 14 days and it’s only up to 30 characters, it can obtain only letters, numbers, periods, and underscores.

  • The Instagram bio count is 150 characters.

So, keep on reading as I take you through all the sections into creating the most suitable bio for your profile: Business or Professional Instagram Page.

  • The Name Section:

In the Name section, include your Profession or what you want to be associated with when searched by other people. Think about important attributes and a title you want to be link, add some searchable keywords by your target audience.

It’s always worth to say that searching for trending keywords and learning more about the search volume of the ones that you’re using is always a good idea this can enrich and push the audience to find you faster.

Answer the public, Google Trends, SEMRush or even Ahrefs can help you out in this task

  • First Line in Bio: The Awareness Section

It’s where you will be stating your niche and starting to communicate with your profile visitors what you do in easy simple and efficient words and if you don’t know how to do it, copy and fill in the blanks to create your Niche Statement:

I help (Target audience) to (state your Target audience’s goal) without (Pain Point)

  • If you’re a weight management coach for women you would say:

I help Women to Manage their weights without Diet

  • And, if you’re a Growth Marketing Expert you would say:

I help Businesses Increase their online sales through ads with better ROAS

  • Second Line in Bio: The Interest Section

People by nature are drawn to believe facts, mentioning some important facts in your bio can give a certain authority and push people to trust you faster, listen to you, engage with you and certainly convert after that.

  • So, if you’ve been in the field for a decade you can mention:

More than 10 Years of Experience in (Name of the field)

  • If you have international exposure and portfolio you can mention:

Collaborated with brands from (X Number of Countries)

  • If you have you’re a best selling author on any platform you can mention:

Best Selling Author on @Amazon + Name of the Book

  • Third Line in Bio: The Desire Section

Now it’s time to push people to take a certain action by stating the next logical step you want them to perform, whether signing up to your newsletter, messaging you a certain word in the DM to flare up and conversation, or simply providing a one on one 15 min free consultation call.

Keep in mind to write only one step at a time.

  • The Link in Bio: The Link Section

Don’t lose characters in the bio writing up your website’s link or Landing page link. There is a place strictly for that. Place your Link only in the Bio and change it if needed following the action mentioned at the time.

Now that you have your Instagram Bio up and ready it’s time to make sure you cover these 3 tips and let your profile glow and if you’re still confused, don’t hesitate to say hello!

1- Pick the right Business Type for your Business.

Just like hashtags, an Instagram business category helps you connect with the right people. It immediately tells people what you do and encourages prospective followers to check out your Instagram posts.

However, choosing the best category can be confusing. For example, you might be a blogger that also sells crafts online. Or you could be running an eclectic local business that is an event venue, social club, and vegan restaurant all at the same time.

So how do you pick the best business category? We propose two simple rules:

  1. Ask clients how they would describe you; go back to your mission statement and see what it is that makes your local business different.

  2. Search for all the categories that apply; the list of Instagram business categories contains over 1,500 different options, so you should try to find the one that best describes your business. Don’t settle for something that’s only kind of fitting: the perfect category for your local business might be out there!

Whether you’re a small at-home bakery, an accessories maker, an e-commerce platform for Makeup, or a content creator, picking the right business type will help people get to know you much faster and you might end up getting passive followers without you even lifting a single finger.

2- Mention your Incentives!

Most discounts work on the principle of urgency, as the discounts, offers and Free Limited-Time Services are only available for a specific period of time.

If people don’t buy the product now or perform a certain action, at a discounted price, they’re likely to miss out on saving some money. There is urgency involved.

That Fear of missing out (FOMO) is exactly why discounts work. For you to attract them from the very first second, mention the incentives you offer: Free Delivery, 10% off of your first purchase, or any other offer. People are always encouraged to try your product out when they are made to feel special by what you offer them.

And if you’re a digital marketer, a simple quick free audit or a free 15 mins consultation call won’t do any harm … I Promise.

3- Include a Call to Action

A call to action (CTA) is a way to push people to convert on your platform. It can be as simple as landing them on your blog, pushing them to buy from your store or maybe showing them the aggregators you’re on if you’re a restaurant.

Whether you have one website or a landing page with several calls to action, it’s very important to create a CTA

There are always free landing page tools that you can use if you want to include several calls to action at once. One of my favorites is Znaplink or maybe you can invest in a Squarespace landing page with a free template. You can create a profile on Linktree or Taplink, Znaplink, and many other free tools that you can find online.

One more thing to consider all the call-to-action Buttons: Contact, Order, Book Now…
Instagram is permitting you in simple guided steps implement these call to action buttons, grow your audience and increase your conversions.

Conclusion: Sharing quality content is important on any social media platform, but it’s especially true on Instagram to ensure your profile gets seen by a lot of people, be sure you have optimized your profile as it's a hassle-free introduction gate to your potential new client.
